laptop case II

My dear brother got married to the love of his life this past June, and because we have a lot of family in Hong Kong, we all went there for post-wedding celebrations. Because my summer job involves a lot of writing and researching, my family surprised me with a new netbook for my birthday so that I wouldn't have to bring a large and heavy laptop. I decided I would make a laptop case for it, but with all the traveling and other sewing projects, I just never got around to doing it. Well, I finally made one, and it's absolutely perfect.
I made a laptop case for my parents last year, but used a different construction for mine because it's so much smaller and thinner. Instead of building a side, I just folded a large rectangle and seamed the sides. Simplicity. Gotta love it when it works!
Both the inside and outside fabrics are leftovers. The blue is from a t-shirt: I angled the shirt so that I could reuse a pocket from the original and then added a wider pocket on the other side. The beige print is leftover from a remnant that I used to make a clutch: I played around with the print by adding sequins and beads. You can't really see the sequins, but occasionally it catches the light and brings a bit of shine to the case.
Now I can finally pop all the bubbles from the original packaging sleeve!

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog. For the rub, I used about five yards of fabric. The fabric is like sweatshirt fabric, I purchased it at PA Fabric Outlet for .99 a yard!
